The Redlands Modern Country Music Club is a hidden gem.
For the past 49 years, this not-for profit club has been a part of the fabric of Redlands.
It began, as most things do, with the ideas and enthusiasm of a small band of country music musicians and their families.
They initially met under the home of Dell Moller in 1974.
In 1990, after many years of hard work from the members, the clubhouse opened in its current location in Pinklands reserve.
From that time on, it has steadily grown in both facilities and membership and has become one of the longest, continuous country music clubs in Queensland.
Its musical genres include traditional, ballads, gospel, country rock, country pop and blue grass.
One of the club’s main aims is to provide opportunities for people of all ages to participate in the practice, presentation and enjoyment of country music.
This especially applies to aspiring musicians or singers seeking to gain experience performing live on stage.
Initially, individuals may perform in front of a small audience but, as experience is gained, horizons can be expanded into professional and semi-professional work.
The club caters for all age groups and a wide variety of skills and talents. Such a blend, melded with a friendly, encouraging ethos, ensures there is something for everyone.
It is a safe, family-friendly environment at practice nights, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7pm, and the monthly social on the first Saturday of every month starting at 5pm.
On the social evenings, a country style supper is provided along with five hours of wonderful music.
