Loretta Lynn look-alike Amber Joy Poulton brings Coal Miner’s Daughter to RPAC at 2pm on November 26.
For Amber, the show is all about bringing the music of the country to the people of the country.
“2023 and 2024 is the tour that takes in big and small towns,” she said.
“The show has sold out in the big arenas, but it’s important to bring it to the smaller theatres too.
“I grew up in a country town and I know that this is where this music belongs.”
Amber said the music was a reflection of life.
“It resonates with people on the land,” she said.
The show follows a sold-out national tour in 2017 and 2022.
Amber said on considering the music of various country performers, Loretta and her music really struck a chord.
“I had played a cameo role as June Carter in a Johnny Cash show and I wanted more than a cameo. I wanted it all,” she said.
“I looked at Tammy Wynette and her songs were too sad.
“I had a different sound to Patsy Cline and I didn’t have the key assets to play Dolly. Then I looked at the music of Loretta Lynn.
“I’ve been told we look alike. I love her sass. She’s cheeky. She’s me.”
The show is particularly timely since the recent passing of Loretta Lynn.
Tickets are from $45. Book on 3829 8131 or rpac.com.au (booking fees are $5.30 by phone and $6.40 online per transaction).
