Troy Smith of Hudsons Circus remembers the first time he saw the circus.
“I fell in love with it that day. And to this day, I smell the sawdust and see the acrobats and it takes me on a trip down memory lane,” he said.
Mr Smith said he hoped that Hudsons Circus would have the same effect on Redlands children when it visits Capalaba for 12 shows starting today.
Shows are held at 7pm on June 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16 and 17 with 4pm shows on June 10 and 17 and 11am shows on Sundays, June 11 and 18.
The circus will be set up behind Capalaba Tavern.
“This show is particularly important to me as I grew up near this area. It’s like playing on my home turf,” Mr Smith said.
Hudson’s Circus is best known for its acrobatics, clowns, stunts and animals.
Troy said the two-hour show had all the usual circus elements but was the only Australian circus to still feature animals.
There is also a trapeze show and ‘globe of death’.
The circus returns for what is its 10th anniversary tour, having visited Capalaba on its inaugural tour.
Prices start at $15 for children and $25 for adults, with four-person family passes $70, and can be booked on hudsonscircus.com.au or by calling 0458 483 766.
