NAIDOC Week 2023 celebrates and recognises the history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The yearly celebration is an opportunity for all Australians to be educated on First Nations cultures and participate in events.
The acronym NAIDOC stands for National Aboriginals and Islanders Day Observance Committee, with NAIDOC week starting on the first Sunday in July.
The theme for NAIDOC week this year is For Our Elders, which highlights the important role Elders have played and continue to play within communities and families across generations.
The 2023 theme recognises Elders as cultural knowledge holders, trailblazers, nurturers, advocates, teachers, survivors, leaders, hard workers and our loved ones.
Redlands will a host a series of events during NAIDOC Week.
