THE popular and heart-warming series, Old People’s Home for Teenagers returns to ABC TV and ABC iview on Tuesday, October 3 at 8.30pm.
Across six life-changing episodes, the series brings together a new set of teens and seniors for an inspirational and powerful intergenerational experiment.
Old People’s Home for Teenagers Season 1 brought an unlikely pairing together; seniors and teenagers, resulting in a compelling and inspiring global first experiment.
The results were undeniable. Significant benefits were seen from the intergenerational program, transforming the lives of both groups not only for the better but also re-invigorating their futures.
Narrated by Annabel Crabb, this season a group of seniors living in a retirement village and a group of local teenagers join the experiment looking to build much needed connections and find long lasting bonds.
Although the seniors live in close proximity, they are suffering from loneliness, isolation and depression.
The teenagers are also navigating a difficult time of life, as they struggle to develop their independence and self-worth.
Together they will participate in a series of activities to learn more about each other, challenge the way they think, and break down current beliefs in both groups.
The hope is that this experiment will find a way to keep the elderly active, become more connected to their local communities, have a deeper self-worth and regain a sense of purpose and in turn, encourage our teenagers to be more resilient, confident and form genuine friendships within their own age bracket and beyond.
