Making a difference to the health needs of a community is important to the staff of Redland Bay Wholelife Pharmacy and Health Foods at the Redland Bay village.
That’s why being named as finalist in People’s choice Best of Redlands and Customer Service categories of the Redland Business Excellence Awards is so thrilling.
Pharmacist Fiona Watson said it was lovely for the team to gain this recognition.
“We spend a lot of time focusing on our contribution to the health care of the community,” she said.
It’s important when the community choose to come to us and choose to speak to us about their care. This acknowledgement says they value our service.
The pharmacy is owned by Fiona, her sister Shona Volker and mother Evelyn Watson and has been a health institution at Redland Bay for about 25 years.
Fiona said since moving to the village the team had been able to implement the pharmacy mode they had always wanted to practice.
“This is it. This is our reality,” she said.
Part of this is the implementation of Spencer the Dispenser, a ROWA dispensing robot which lives behind the dispensing counter. Its role is to deliver medication and to do stock control.
“Spencer allows the pharmacist to spend the time with the people and do the clinical work all pharmacists want to do. It’s pretty cool. We love to show Spencer to our customers,” Fiona said.
Fiona said the pharmacy had won various Redland Business Excellence awards in previous years. This includes awards in the health care and young entrepreneur sections.
