Redland City Gymsports have been crowned third overall in the Queensland Levels Trampoline Championships as they prepare for nationals in September.
The club sent a squad of 14 athletes to compete in the competition over the weekend of August 12-13.
Head coach Melanie Tonks said she considered the Queensland Levels a warm-up event for the National Clubs event in September.
“It was very exciting to be named the third best club as there were 16 clubs participating,” she said.
“The clubs that beat us had 53 and 40 athletes in their teams compared to our 14 athletes.”
Saxon Walters secured fourth place in the Best All-Round Athlete after placing in the Tramp, DMT and Tumbling events.
Levi Coutts-Hohenhaus fulfilled the promise he had been showing all year and placed second in Level Six Trampoline and fourth in Level Six Double Mini.
Charlotte Johnstone won level seven tumbling, silver in Jun U22 DMT and fourth in Senior Trampoline.
Ella Brushe ended the day with two silvers and a bronze, while Bella Malcolm came away with two silvers, a fourth and a fifth.
Several of the Redland City Gymsports athletes have moved up a level in preparation for the National Clubs Carnival to be hold on the Gold Coast this September.
“We expect to do okay, but with our younger athletes it is more about participating and watching the top athletes,” Tonks said.
“Our higher-level athletes hope to achieve a qualifying score to compete in the National Championships in 2024.”
Tonks said the Nationals Clubs event was a qualifying competition to secure a spot in the World Championships in Birmingham this November.
