U3A is hosting a range of activities at the Donald Simpson Leisure centre to mark Seniors Month in October.
There is a program of special interest topics in its regular Life Matters presentations at the centre on four consecutive Mondays.
On October 9, seniors will look at Australia as a trading partner, exploring the issues of overseas trade, control, surplus and the future. Then on October 16, the topic is on Australia’s dwindling water supply with a discussion on its management, floods and droughts.
On October 23, Australia’s food resources will be discussed. These will be facilitated by author, government administrator, primary producer and public affairs commentator Paul Oates.
To finish the month, on October 30, a clinical nurse consultant will discuss planning for health care issues in the My Care, My Choice talk and provide practical steps to empower seniors to plan for future health care.
Doors open to the sessions at 9am with the presentation from 9.30am to 10.30am and tea and coffee to 11am. Cost is $5 per session.
